At Pectus-Bracing.com, our treatment protocol is to first evaluate and measure each patient working only with a physician's prescription. At the first appointment, we carefully measure the patient to determine the differential of the height of the Pectus Carinatum protrusion from the superior edge of the pectus slope. In the example below, each blue line in the picture on the right side represents ¼". Thus, the difference in height form the apex to the superior edge of the pectus slope below is 7/8".
This value is our baseline that we use for later comparison at the end of treatment to document improvement. After laser molding the patient, we give a return appointment for fitting and delivery of the Pectus Carinatum Orthosis.
When you leave our facility with your Pectus Carinatum Orthosis, we follow the patient on a regular basis to document improvement and make adjustments when necessary.
The two photos below show initial Pectus Carinatum deformity before and after treatment. The third photo shows the patient in the Pectus Carinatum Orthosis. Our method allows us to verify changes that otherwise might not be appreciated by conventional methods.
